GUIDECRAFTING

Crafting is how you make your gear. The Crafting Table makes weapons, tools, coats, travel gear and animal treats; the Charm Table makes charms; the Companion Workshop makes gear for your companions. All three open the same kind of window, called the bench. Making a thing is instant: you pick it, pay its materials and spirits, and it is yours.

The Crafting Table

The Crafting Table is the first thing you make. Open the build menu (B); it is on the TECHNOLOGY page and costs 4 Wood, 2 Stone, 1 Water spirit and 2 Earth spirits. E at it to open the bench.

Unlike most pieces, the Crafting Table can be built anywhere, not only in A Goddess's Land. Outside a Goddess's land it only makes things on two pages:

The other pages can be looked at but not made from. Once the table stands inside a Goddess's land (for example, after you build a Goddess near it), it makes everything. The table checks this each time you open it.

The Charm Table, the Companion Workshop and the other tables can only be built inside a Goddess's land.

The bench

The bench lists what you can make on the left, shows the chosen thing on a plate in the middle, and lists its cost underneath. The materials you have are counted from your pack and from your stores (see Where materials come from below).

Pages (tabs)

PageWhat it makes
WEAPONSSword, Greatsword, Daggers, War Hammer, Blade Staff, Bow, Spirit Book
TOOLSMattock, Fishing Pole, Arrows, Hoe, Watering Can, Sickle
COATSThe six Raincoats: Runner's, Tank's, Warrior's, Courier's, Olympian's and Farmer's
MISCThreat Finder, Riverstone, Whetstone (needs 2 Jewels), Spiritstone (needs 4 Jewels), Bone Meal, Bone Meal (Big Bone)
TRAVELGlass Lantern, Wisp Lantern, Lamp Oil, Satchel, Traveler's Pack, Spirit-sewn Pack
TREATSThree treats for each tameable animal (deer, fox, rabbit, bird, raven, frog, sheep, cow, hen, wolf and bear), plus carrot treats for the deer and the rabbit. See Taming.

Material pages and padlocks

Weapons, tools and coats come in five metals: stone, bronze, iron, steel and endurium (see Metal Tiers). The bench has a page for each metal, and you flip between them to see the same thing made in each. Every metal is shown, but a metal you haven't opened yet has a padlock on it and can't be made. Each Jewel you hold opens the next metal:

MetalOpens with
StoneOpen from the start
Bronze1 Jewel
Iron2 Jewels
Steel3 Jewels
Endurium4 Jewels

The garden tools (Hoe, Watering Can, Sickle) come only in stone, bronze and steel. Arrows are never padlocked: each metal's arrows can be made as soon as you have that metal's materials. The MISC, TRAVEL and TREATS pages have no metal pages at all.

From bronze up, recipes ask for worked materials instead of raw ones: ingots instead of ore, planks instead of logs, and leather instead of hide. See Smelting and Milling.

From iron up, a coat recipe also lets you choose a lining (Yeti, Wyvern or Mermaid), which adds 3 of that creature's part to the cost. See Coat Linings.

Quantity

You can make 1 to 99 at once. The MAX button sets the number to as many as your materials and your pack allow. Each weapon, tool, coat or charm takes its own pocket in your pack and is rolled on its own, so you need one free pocket for each. Arrows (and other stacking things) are made in bundles: one bundle of arrows is 10 arrows, and the pack needs room for the whole stack.

Things made at the bench have no traits. Traits are added later at the Augmentation Table.

Where materials come from

The bench counts and spends materials from:

  • your pack (always used first);
  • every store (chest, crate, trunk and so on) on the screen;
  • every store in the Goddess's land you are standing in, and in the land the table stands in, even if it is off the screen.

Spirits are paid from your own spirits.

The Charm Table

The Charm Table opens the same bench with its own pages:

See Charms for what each one does.

The Companion Workshop

The Companion Workshop has one page, COMPANION GEAR, with gear for every companion: rabbit, deer, fox, bird, frog, raven, hen, sheep, cow, wolf and bear. It opens on the gear your current companion can wear. See Companion Gear.

Any-groups

Some recipes ask for "any" of a group. Any member of the group counts, and they are added together. When you pay, the bench takes from whichever member you have the most of first.

Crafting XP

Making things teaches your Stats. Each thing teaches two stats (a few teach one). For weapons, tools, coats, charms and companion gear, the XP is multiplied by the metal: stone x1, bronze x2, iron x3, steel x4, endurium x5. Garden tools, MISC, TRAVEL and TREATS always give the base amount. Making several at once gives the XP for each one.

Better tables

Each of the three tables can be upgraded twice from the UPGRADE button in its window. A finer table takes fewer materials (85%, then 70%) and what it makes comes out with finer stats. See Table Upgrades.

Tips

  • Build your first Crafting Table early and make a Mattock: it is all you need to gather the rest.
  • Keep your stores inside your Goddess's land: the bench reaches all of them, even ones off the screen.
  • To get back some of what a thing cost, put it through The Grinder.
In online play, you can't use a table in another player's Goddess's land unless they have made you a builder. The bench only reaches stores that are yours to use.
