Turnip

CROPTURNIP (ANY GRADE)

The Turnip is a quick, easy sun crop and the first most gardens grow. Its seeds are the easiest to find: picked flowers and freshly tilled ground by day both turn them up.

In-game description

A purple-shouldered turnip, cold from the ground.SHOWN ON ITS CARD IN YOUR PACK

Growing

  • Sow it with the Hoe in a tilled bed and keep the bed watered. It takes about 3.5 days to its first harvest in clear weather.
  • It likes the sun: fastest in clear sunshine, slower under cloud or a roof, and slow at night.

Harvest

Reap it with the Sickle. A harvest gives 1 to 2 Turnip and 0 to 2 seeds back (1 more seed at Heirloom), and releases 2 Earth, 1 Water spirits at Plain grade (more at finer grades: see Crop Grades). Left in the ground more than 3 days after it ripens, it rots.

Where to get seeds

Flowers, heather, thistles and yucca you pick by day (14%), new ground you till by day, and traders in the Woods and the Rocky Highlands. See Seeds.

Notes

  • A Turnip harvest may give no seeds back (0 to 2), so keep a few spare.
  • Turnips are not hardy: snow stops them and frost hurts them in open beds.
