The Bow fights from a distance. Hold click or F to draw, aim, and let go to shoot. It needs arrows in your pack: each shot uses one, and many can be picked back up.

In-game description
An ash self bow with knapped stone nocks. Hold to draw (aim with the pointer, or the way you face) and let go to loose. It needs arrows.SHOWN ON ITS CARD
Drawing and shooting
- Hold click or F to draw. A full draw takes 0.9 seconds at a DRAW of 100% (higher DRAW is faster). You aim at the pointer, with the stick, or the way you face, and you move at a shuffle while drawing.
- Let go to shoot. A shot drawn only a little hits for 50% of POWER, rising toward 125% as the draw fills; a full draw hits for 125% of POWER. Let go before 12% of a draw and you lower the bow without shooting.
- Arrows fly in an arc and stick in what they hit: trees, wood, the ground. Stone (rocks, stone walls) turns them aside. Walk over a stuck arrow to pick it up.
- Each shot costs 0.5 stamina.
Arrows
The bow shoots the arrows you marked as preferred on its page, or else the finest you carry. Finer heads hit harder (see Arrows). How often an arrow lands whole, to be picked up again, depends on the bow's metal:
| Bow | Arrows that land whole |
|---|---|
| Stone | 60% |
| Bronze | 68% |
| Iron | 76% |
| Steel | 84% |
| Endurium | 90% |
In the air and on the run
- In a jump: click or F looses three quick arrows at once, with a moment's hang in the air to do it.
- Running attack: click or F while running makes a lunge and a shot at full strength at once, no draw needed.
Special: Arrow Rain and the Dragon Shot (right-click or R)
- Arrow Rain: one arrow shot into the sky, then arrows hail down for 3 seconds over a ring where you aim, 10 a second, each dealing 30% of a shot. A creature is hit at most twice a second and pinned for a moment. It uses 3 arrows and is ready again after 8 seconds.
- Focus: arrows that land fill the ring round the bow's picture (top right). A full draw fills it most, a quick shot less, the rain least. It never drains.
- Dragon Shot: with the Focus full, right-click or R charges for 1.5 seconds (you shuffle; a heavy blow or a Space lets it go, nothing spent), then a dragon of light flies from the string, through walls, striking everything on its way. It uses 3 arrows and the whole Focus.
What it's best for
Creatures you'd rather not meet up close, flying things, and wearing a boss down from a distance. Keep a good stock of arrows.
Stats by metal
| Metal | Power | Draw | Range | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stone | 2.4 | 100% | 100% | 95 |
| Bronze | 3 | 100% | 100% | 143 |
| Iron | 3.6 | 100% | 100% | 209 |
| Steel | 4.3 | 100% | 100% | 285 |
| Endurium | 5.3 | 100% | 100% | 428 |
RANGE is how fast arrows fly, and so how far. For the bow, Edge is shots before the string frays; a frayed string deals half damage.
These are the numbers of a plain one with nothing bound in it. Spirits bound at the Spiriting Table, traits and Forged marks raise them. Edge is how many landed blows it takes before it goes dull (see Edge).

| Bronze | 1 Bronze Ingot, 3 Beechwood Planks; spirits: 1 Earth, 1 Wind |
| Iron | 1 Iron Ingot, 3 Ironwood Planks, 1 Glue; spirits: 1 Water, 1 Earth, 2 Wind |
| Steel | 2 Steel Ingots, 3 Rimewood Planks, 2 Glue; spirits: 1 Fire, 1 Water, 2 Earth, 2 Wind |

Made at a Crafting Table. Each metal needs that metal opened first (see Metal Tiers); from bronze up, the haft is made of the metal's sister wood, sawn into planks. A finer table takes less.
