The War Hammer is slow and crushing. It has the highest POWER of any weapon, a better metal raises it more than it raises other weapons, and holding click or F charges a pound that dazes foes and throws them up.

In-game description
A boulder lashed to a log. Slow, and it lands like a falling tree. Hold the swing to charge a pound that stuns and throws foes up, and leaves the ground shaking.SHOWN ON ITS CARD
The combo
- Strike: a short, sharp blow, at 0.9 times POWER.
- Rebound: it bounces off the ground and comes down again, two impacts, at 1.1 times POWER.
- Tempering Blow: the head held back glowing red-hot, then brought down in molten cracks and fire, at 1.45 times POWER.
Running attack
click or F while running: a short leap and a somersault into a ground pound, with the plunge's wave (1.5 times POWER), dazing and throwing up what it reaches. The hammer is stuck for a moment afterwards, and the combo doesn't follow on.
Plunge
click or F in the air: the hammer is raised overhead as you fall and slammed down in front as you land, a wave of 1.5 times POWER. It is stuck for 1.05 seconds afterwards. A plunge costs 2.5 stamina.
Special: the pound (hold click or F)
Hold click or F through a strike to charge, in three tiers like the greatsword's spin. Let go to pound the ground:
| Tier | Held for | Pound |
|---|---|---|
| I | 0.5 s | 1.4 times POWER |
| II | 1.15 s | 2 times POWER |
| III | 1.9 s | 2.8 times POWER |
The pound dazes foes, throws them up, and leaves the ground shaking. It costs 3 stamina. CHARGE on its page is how fast it charges. The hammer has no move on right-click or R.
What it's best for
Big creatures and bosses, where every blow counts. It is slow, so step back from a creature's tell, then strike while it recovers.

Made at a Crafting Table. Each metal needs that metal opened first (see Metal Tiers); from bronze up, the haft is made of the metal's sister wood, sawn into planks. A finer table takes less.
