Bind the Echo moves a boss's Forged mark from one piece of your gear to another. It is the second page of the Augmentation Table. Use it when you upgrade to a new weapon or coat and want to keep a Forged power, or to put a mark on the exact piece you want.
What it costs
| Cost | Amount |
|---|---|
| The mark's boss's trophy | 3 |
| Fire, Water, Earth and Wind spirit | 5 of each (20 in all) |
| Mark | Trophy needed |
|---|---|
| Troll Forged | 3 Oathfire Tusk |
| Stag Forged | 3 Hollow Crown |
| Lightning Forged | 3 Fulgurite Glass |
| Rime Forged | 3 Rime Scale |
| Moss Forged | 3 Heartroot |
Each lair boss leaves 2 of its trophy every time you beat it, so one mark move takes two wins against that boss (see Boss Trophies).
How to use it
- Open the Augmentation Table with E and choose the BIND THE ECHO tab.
- On the left, under FORGED ARMS, choose the Forged piece whose mark you want to move. Pieces you carry or wear are listed.
- On the right, under TAKE IT TO, choose the piece that will receive it.
- If the old piece has more traits than it will have slots, choose which traits it gives up (see below).
- Press the button. If traits will be lost, the table asks you to press again to confirm.
The mark leaves the first piece, flies across the table and settles into the second, with the boss's own sound.
What can receive a mark
- A weapon that the mark has a power for: sword, greatsword, daggers, war hammer, bow, blade staff or the Spirit Book. The mattock can't take one.
- A coat, but not the plain raincoat.
- A Spirit Book only if the page matching the mark is open: Earth for Troll Forged, Fire for Stag Forged, Wind for Lightning Forged, Water for Moss Forged. Rime Forged takes the whole book.
- Not a piece that is already Forged. A piece holds only one mark. Forged pieces are listed last and greyed out.
Unlike the echo from a boss fight, the receiving piece does not need to be fully spirited.
The power you get depends on the piece that receives the mark. A Rime Forged mark moved from a sword to a bow gives the bow's Rime power, not the sword's. See Forged Gear for every power.
What happens to each piece
The piece that receives the mark
- It becomes Forged with that mark, and takes its new name and look.
- It gains 2 trait slots, which you can fill on the Augmentation Table's first page.
The piece the mark leaves
- It loses the mark, its power, its Forged look and the 2 trait slots the mark gave it.
- It keeps its traits, as long as they fit in its remaining slots. If it has more traits than that, you choose which ones to give up. Traits given up are gone for good.
- If losing those traits leaves it holding more spirits than it now has room for, the extra spirits come back to you, starting with spirits that weren't waking a tier.
Tips
- Moving a mark onto a fresh piece is a good way to choose exactly which piece is Forged, since a boss's echo picks at random among your ready pieces.
- Keep trophies from refights: you need 3 for every move.
In online play, Bind the Echo works on your own gear only and costs your own trophies and spirits. Everyone in the room sees the new Forged look.
