The Longlegs is a tall, hunched creature of black fur with a long-muzzled head, standing high on two very long, thin legs. It turns up in every land at night and in every dungeon. It walks in slow, high strides and fights with one long kick that throws you back.
Where and when
- At night, in every land. It comes alone.
- In every dungeon, and more often the harder the dungeon is. See Dungeons.
Like the other night creatures, it leaves at dawn (Day and Night).
Health and damage
Out in the world, its health and damage grow with the number of Jewels you hold (Jewels): each Jewel adds 70% of its base health and 40% of its base damage. Health is rounded; damage is before your defence lowers it.
| Jewels held | Health | Kick damage |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 16 | 27 |
| 1 | 27 | 38 |
| 2 | 37 | 48 |
| 3 | 48 | 59 |
| 4 | 59 | 70 |
| 5 | 70 | 81 |
In a dungeon, its health and damage follow the dungeon's tier and the Jewels you hold instead.
Attacks
Kick
The tell: it draws one leg all the way up, knee to its chest, leans back and trembles on the other leg, its jaw open (0.55 seconds). It aims at you the whole time it is drawing up. Then the leg snaps out straight along that line (0.17 seconds). If you are in its path, from just in front of it out to 38 px, it does 27 damage with no Jewels and throws you back hard.
- Parry: press right-click or R as the kick lands. It is thrown off balance and hops on one leg, wobbling, for 1.1 seconds. While it wobbles, your blows do 50% more damage.
- Block: a guard held up earlier blocks it, and you take 9 damage and a small push instead.
- Step aside: the kick goes in a straight line, so stepping to one side as the leg comes up makes it miss.
- Jump: the kick only lands if you are low to the ground, so a Space at the right moment carries you over it.
After a kick it rests for 0.5 seconds, then waits a moment (0.7 to 1.6 seconds) before it can kick again.
Behaviour
- It keeps itself at kicking range: it walks up when you are far off and steps back when you get too close under it.
- It walks faster when you are far away.
How to fight it
- Parry the kick, then hit it hard while it wobbles.
- If you can't parry, step out of the kick's line during the tell, then close in and strike while it recovers.
