Moon Squash

CROP

The Moon Squash is a pale squash that ripens by night. It grows by day too, but more than 3 times faster at night than at midday, so it suits a gardener who is out after dark. A ripe Moon Squash glows a soft, pale blue in the dark.

In-game description

A pale squash that ripens by night. It is faintly cold to hold.SHOWN ON ITS CARD IN YOUR PACK

Growing

  • Sow it with the Hoe in a tilled bed and keep the bed watered. It takes about 4 days to its first harvest in clear weather.
  • It grows by night: day and night, but much faster at night.

Harvest

Reap it with the Sickle. A harvest gives 1 Moon Squash and 1 to 3 seeds back (1 more seed at Heirloom), and releases 2 Water, 1 Fire spirits at Plain grade (more at finer grades: see Crop Grades). Left in the ground more than 3 days after it ripens, it rots.

Where to get seeds

Flowers, heather, thistles and yucca you pick after dusk (14%), new ground you till after dark, and traders in the Tundra and the Haunted Wood. See Seeds.

Notes

  • It likes a clear night. Cloud lowers its grade score; a sunny day does not count against it.
  • Under snow it keeps growing at half pace like a hardy crop, but frost still hurts it in an open bed.
